Product Introduction
Outdoor Commercial DC Charging

Specify the Charger for Its Actual Weather Exposure

Our Outdoor DC EV Charger is an IP54 floor-mounted charging platform available from 40kW to 240kW for public parking, fleet depots, commercial sites and highway charging projects. It offers DC200–1000V output, two standard connectors and project configurations supporting up to four guns.

Outdoor suitability depends on the complete installation, not the enclosure rating alone. Rainfall, drainage, flood level, dust, direct sun, ambient temperature, corrosion exposure, cable routing and maintenance access should be reviewed before the configuration is released.

  • 40–240kW rated-power options
  • DC200–1000V output range
  • 0–300A series output current
  • IP54 floor-mounted enclosure
  • -20°C to 50°C operation
  • Remote operation support

Enclosure Selection

What IP54 Means for an Outdoor DC EV Charger

IP54 identifies a defined level of protection against dust ingress and splashing water. It does not classify the charger as dust-tight, waterproof, flood-resistant or suitable for pressure washing.

IP 5

Dust-Protected

Limited dust entry may occur, but not in a quantity that interferes with satisfactory operation under the applicable test condition. Filter and airflow maintenance remain important.

IP 4

Splashing Water

The enclosure is protected against splashing water from any direction under the specified test. This does not cover water jets, powerful cleaning spray or immersion.

SITE

Installation Controls

A raised foundation, effective drainage, sealed cable entries, maintained door seals and correct ventilation clearances protect the delivered enclosure performance.

Important: IP54 does not confirm corrosion resistance, mechanical impact resistance, UV life, condensation control or suitability for flooding. These risks require separate project review.

Outdoor Installation

Protect the Cabinet Through Correct Site Preparation

The installation design should keep standing water away from the cabinet, preserve the intended cable-entry seals and allow heat to leave the enclosure without blocked vents or restricted service access.

01

Foundation and Drainage

Use a stable, level and raised foundation where required. Direct surface water away from the cabinet base and protect underground cable routes from water entry.

02

Cable Entry and Sealing

Match glands and sealing components to every power, communication and auxiliary cable. Unsealed field openings can reduce enclosure protection.

03

Ventilation and Solar Load

Maintain the specified airflow clearances and consider direct sunlight when positioning the cabinet. Blocked vents or excessive solar heating can increase internal temperature.

04

Vehicle Impact Protection

Plan bollards or other barriers where vehicles could contact the charger. Protection must not obstruct connector use, ventilation or cabinet service doors.

05

Cable Reach and Pedestrian Routes

Confirm parking direction and charging-inlet positions. The cable should reach the vehicle without excessive tension, traffic conflicts or avoidable trip hazards.

06

Maintenance Access

Leave safe access to cabinet doors, filters, modules and protective devices so routine inspection does not require closing unrelated charging bays.

Application Conditions

Review Exposure by Charging-Site Type

Public Parking

Review vehicle circulation, pedestrian access, drainage, cabinet visibility and impact protection around frequently changing users.

Fleet Depots

Consider road dust, wash-bay proximity, cable handling, operating hours and peak simultaneous charging during vehicle return periods.

Highway Sites

Assess wind-driven rain, traffic spray, direct sun, limited maintenance access and any de-icing chemicals used around the charging area.

Coastal Locations

Salt-laden air creates a corrosion risk that the IP rating does not resolve. State the coastal exposure before cabinet details are confirmed.

Procurement Definition

Information We Need Before Recommending a Configuration

We use the installation environment together with the electrical and charging requirements to review the appropriate outdoor configuration. A location name alone is not enough because exposure can differ significantly between sheltered parking, open highways, coastal sites and industrial yards.

  • Destination country, city and applicable project requirements
  • Open-air, canopy-covered or partially sheltered installation
  • Minimum and maximum ambient temperature
  • Rainfall, drainage, flood level and cleaning method
  • Dust, salt, industrial emissions or road-chemical exposure
  • Vehicle types, battery voltage and accepted DC power
  • Required connector standards and simultaneous sessions
  • Grid voltage, transformer capacity and project quantity

OEM and Operating Requirements

Provide cabinet color, logo, interface language, labeling, connector arrangement and cable-length requirements for OEM or ODM review.

If backend management is required, state the OCPP version, network method, authentication process and intended charging-management platform.

Packaging and delivery terms are confirmed after the technical configuration, quantity and destination have been defined.

Buyer Questions

Outdoor DC EV Charger FAQ

Is an IP54 DC EV charger suitable for outdoor use? +

Our NEDF floor-mounted series is rated IP54 and supports indoor or outdoor installation. Suitability still depends on rainfall, drainage, flood risk, temperature, dust, corrosion exposure, cleaning practice and the local installation design.

Does IP54 mean the charger is waterproof? +

No. IP54 includes protection against splashing water under its defined test condition. It does not classify the enclosure for water jets, pressure washing, immersion or flooding.

Can the charger be installed directly on paving? +

The installation requires a stable foundation compatible with the cabinet and local civil design. Foundation height, anchoring, cable entry and surface drainage should be defined before equipment installation.

Can an IP54 charger be cleaned with a pressure washer? +

Pressure washing should not be assumed to be acceptable. IP54 addresses splashing water rather than water jets. Keep pressurized water away from doors, vents, displays and cable entries unless the ordered configuration expressly permits it.

Is the standard cabinet suitable for a coastal project? +

Do not determine coastal suitability from IP54 alone. Salt exposure is a corrosion issue, so the distance from the coast, prevailing wind, cabinet finish, exposed hardware and maintenance conditions should be reviewed before ordering.

Which power ratings and connectors are available? +

The NEDF series offers 40, 60, 80, 120, 160, 180 and 240kW configurations. Connector options include CCS1, CCS2, GB/T and CHAdeMO, subject to the ordered market and project configuration.

What should we send for an outdoor charger quotation? +

Send the destination, climate, site exposure, charger power, vehicle details, connector standards, grid supply, transformer capacity, charging-bay plan, network requirements, quantity and OEM needs.

Match the Charger to the Outdoor Site

Send the climate, exposure conditions, required charging power, vehicle connectors, grid capacity, bay layout and project quantity. We will review the configuration before quotation.
